The 360 team is happy to report that the Penguin Island series is half way through the editing process.
In December, experienced editor Steve Robinson joined our team of Tony Stevens and assistant Ryan Howard to edit the series and cut the different versions. It’s great to have Steve on board.
At the end of November, Director of Photography David Parer, Film Victoria attachment Ben Cunningham and Field Producer Hayley Smith completed a 2 month block of natural history filming down on the Island.
It was a tricky period as it was peak breeding season but due to the penguin’s fish source moving off the island, many of the chicks started to drastically lose weight and die.
Our camera team had to be extra careful and using lights at night around the colony was only possible in a few locations. Consequently, a lot of filming was done using special infrared cameras.
Filming has finished for 2009, but we expect to be back in the colony in January or February to do some more pickups.
