Hi friends, MY REFUGEE JOURNEY has just completed two filming blocks and we are all excited that the edit has started.

Over the last months we have been fortunate to have award-winning director Kasimir Burgess (FRANKLIN, IRON WINTER) join our project to work alongside Barat Ali Batoor. Kas has totally re-imagined the story approach and our partners Bonsai Films, VicScreen, Melbourne International Film Festival Premiere Fund and Shark Island Foundation could not be more thrilled to have Kasimir on our team.

Our new film longline:
Across one sleepless night. Hazara photojournalist Barat Ali Batoor confronts the ghosts, trauma and unanswered questions contained in the hard drive that documents his perilous journey seeking asylum.

Joining Kasimir on our new creative team is cinematographer Benjamin Bryan and composer Luke Altmann.

Our editor Steven (Spider) Robinson and assistant editors Shaun Smith and Saxon Wright are now hard at work crafting the footage into what we know will be a wonderful feature documentary.

Thanks again to our amazing donors who have helped us get to this point.

With the end of the financial year imminent, now is a great time to donate via Give Now to help us meet our remaining production costs and receive a tax deduction. All donors will be acknowledged in the film end credits (unless anonymity is requested).

360 Degree Films ran an impact campaign fundraising event on 25 February for the feature documentary MY REFUGEE JOURNEY. The event was held at Canva in Collingwood and supported by generous sponsors Mt Towrong Vineyard, Bodriggy Brewing Company, Stomping Ground Brewery and Canva.

Zoe Daniel lead a fascinating “In Conversation” with the film’s director and protagonist Barat Ali Batoor and the night was moderated by Kon Karapanagiotidis OAM, CEO of the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre.

Over 70 people attended the event. It was a great opportunity to share our vision for the film and for its accompanying educational resources to be created in partnership with Cool.org.

We are seeking support to complete the film and educational resources. We welcome your tax deductible donation: www.givenow.com.au/myrefugeejourney
