Simon Stone is in production!

360 Degree Films is delighted to announce that we are producing a half hour documentary about legendary theatre director Simon Stone. We’ll be following Simon as he goes from press calls to rehearsals, to design and staging tests, all in the course of one day!

However, as well as revealing Simon’s day to day life, A Day In the Life Of Simon Stone will provide compelling insight into contemporary Australian theatre and a fascinating glimpse into the future of the Australian arts scene.

We are thrilled to be working on such an exciting project and will be keeping you posted on Facebook with all the latest news about the project. Head here to like the page, and find out more.

Devil Island News!

On the 14th of November, 15 Tasmanian Devils were released from the captive breeding program onto Maria Island off the East Coast of Tasmania.

It has been a long time coming for 360 Degree Films who has had funding for the TV series since March 2011.

Now the fun begins as we watch our little devils get adjusted to their new life in the wild. Already they seem to have honed their hunting skills and our cameras have captured them taking an injured baby wombat. Many young animals never reach maturity so this is just nature at work, with the devils cleaning up the forest and reducing the risk of flies and disease.

The scientists will be trapping and monitoring the devils progress over the summer and we will let you know how they are faring.

Meet some of the devils of ‘Devil Island’… (more…)

Queen of the Desert screens this Sunday night on ABC2!

Tune in to ABC2 this Sunday night, the 25th of November, for the premiere of 360 Degree Films latest documentary, Queen Of the Desert!

Receiving positive reviews at both its screenings in Alice Springs and Melbourne, as well in The Age, on ABC radio and Radio National, Queen Of the Desert is not to be missed!

Like a real life Priscilla, Starlady takes us on her own Queen of the Desert journey to Areyonga, an indigenous community in Central Australia. Here she works with some of Australia’s most isolated teenagers using a little bit of bleach and a whole lot of colour in the hope to spread confidence and pride.

There is more than just hairdressing happening in this makeshift salon as Starlady herself finds acceptance and friendship in what some might see as the most unlikely of places.

Starring Starlady Nungari & Areyonga Community, Directed by Alex Kelly and Produced Josephine Wright.

If you don’t make it don’t be too dissapointed! The film will also be availible on ABC iview from the 26th November www.abc.net.au/iview.

Do you have a mischievous possum living in your rooftop or garden? Does it sneak into your house or eat your roses? Do you and your neighbour see eye to eye about possums or is there conflict?

We’d love to hear your stories, and if you have interesting footage of possums living in an urban environment that you’ve taken on your camera or phone, then that’s even better! We would love to see them!

If you’d like to get in touch with us, head to  http://www.abc.net.au/tv/programs/possumwars.htm. Or email us at email hidden; JavaScript is required!

360 Degree Films updates!

You may have noticed things are looking a little different here at 360 Degree Films. We have received funding from Film Victoria to re-design our website and we are in the process of offering our documentaries “On Demand” for downloading. In addition to these changes we are excited about moving our website to the latest “Word Press” technology.

We are thrilled to announce that with Screen Australia coming on board, Possum Wars has been completely financed and we are looking forward to welcoming 360 Degree Film’s newest member, director Bruce Permezel from July.

It has been a busy month for the staff at 360 Degree Films as we moved offices. Fortunately we have not bid farewell to the vibrant, diverse, melting pot of “Brunswick” as the new office is just around the corner!

We were sad to leave the old Post Office building above the Penny Black Hotel and its grand open space and view of Sydney Road but the new office is a lot quieter with less music from the pub, Sydney Road vendors and Melbourne trams.

Come and visit us soon.
