We are very excited at the news that the upcoming Amnesty International Film Festival in Vancouver, Canada will be screening The Trial as part of its programme this year.

A bit about the festival:

The Amnesty International Film Festival is a charter member of the Human Rights Film Network, a partnership of human rights film festivals around the world. The Network promotes exchange, communication and collaboration regarding the representation of human rights issues in moving pictures.

The Trial will screen as part of a double bill on Friday November 19, 8:15pm at the Vancity Theatre in Vancouver.

On Monday 25 October, 360 Degree Films launched the documentary Charles Bean’s Great War with a screening at the State Library of Victoria. It was a fantastic evening and we were proud to have cast, crew and friends of the company join us for the occasion.

We are extremely excited for the upcoming television premiere of the film on The History Channel. Charles Bean’s Great War will be screened, fittingly, on Remembrance Day this year: 11 November 2010.

And as you can see from the above photo taken in Melbourne’s city centre, word is getting out about the screening! Tell your friends and family not to miss this unforgettable film next month.

Tibet: Murder in the Snow continues its long-lasting success in festivals across the globe. We are very excited to anounce two new screenings for the film at the Banff Mountain Festival in Canada and the Home Planet Festival of New York in the USA.

The film is showing as part of “Daytime Screening Programme A” at the Banff Mountain Festival. The festival is a nine-day celebration of mountain culture with art, film, literature, talks and more. “Daytime Screening Programme A” in which Tibet: Murder in the Snow is the second film, screens on Saturday 6 November and Sunday 7 November at 9:00am. The film has also been named as a winner of Best Documentary Feature in the Home Planet Film Festival of New York. This festival focuses on films that tell stories about what is happening in the world around us, especially seeking “films and film works that display international, human and global divides throughout the world.”

We are excited to announce that Community Cop has been nominated for a Special Award in “Promotion of Multicultural Issues” at the United Nations Association of Australia’s Media Peace Awards for 2010!

This documentary, produced by Sally Ingleton and directed by Helen Gaynor, follows Constable Andrew “AJ” Allen as he begins working with the young African refugee community in the Flemington high-rise estate in inner city Melbourne.

Tonight marks the broadcast of the first episode of Penguin Island on ABC1. There has been plenty of fantastic publicity during the lead-up to the show, including a wonderful article in The Age Green Guide. Paul Kalina wrote about the show and its flippered stars, saying:

Propelled by a light-hearted, voice-over narration by the hugely popular Rolf Harris, Penguin Island achieved an impressive 20 per cent audience share, averaging 3.46 million viewers when it aired at 7.30pm on BBC1 earlier this year.

Seed Hunter has been invited to be part of a new and exciting exhibition at the Sydney Museum of Contemporary Art.

“In the Balance: Art for a Changing World” is a collection of works by many different artists that respond to environmental debates and ecological concerns. The collection includes photography, film, installation and architecture.

Seed Hunter is one of the films that has been chosen to be screened. It will be shown many times throughout the duration of the exhibition so we encourage all film and art lovers as well as the ecologically conscious to go down to the MCA between 21 August and 31 October – and enjoy!

We are delighted to announce that ‘Kangaroo Mob’ has been nominated for Best Documentary in the Science, Nature and Environment category at the Australian Teachers of Media Awards. The awards will be announced in late October. Congratulations to everyone involved in the project.

Kangaroo Mob is filming in Canberra with director Steve Westh and directors of photography Peter Coleman and Phillip Bull.

The team has been following Dr Don Fletcher as he tracks the movement of nearly 30 kangaroos through the urban area to gain an understanding as to how they are adapting to city life.

Over 3.4 million people tuned into Penguin Island when it premiered on BBC1 on July 14. BBC Director General Mark Thompson even put the program on his own BBC Showcase site.
