The Devils released on Maria Island are successfully breeding, with 15 babies found in pouches so far.
It’s a crucial milestone in the fight to save their species from extinction, and is the first time devils raised in captivity have given birth in the wild, free from the deadly facial tumour disease that has ravaged the wild population on mainland Tasmania.
