On the 14th of November, 15 Tasmanian Devils were released from the captive breeding program onto Maria Island off the East Coast of Tasmania.
It has been a long time coming for 360 Degree Films who has had funding for the TV series since March 2011.
Now the fun begins as we watch our little devils get adjusted to their new life in the wild. Already they seem to have honed their hunting skills and our cameras have captured them taking an injured baby wombat. Many young animals never reach maturity so this is just nature at work, with the devils cleaning up the forest and reducing the risk of flies and disease.
The scientists will be trapping and monitoring the devils progress over the summer and we will let you know how they are faring.
